Customers call constantly asking “where’s my barrel?” — and the answer is usually buried in someone’s phone. Status updates get forgotten. Customs paperwork is typed by hand. Payments are tracked in notebooks.
It works until it doesn’t. A barrel goes missing. A customer doesn’t get updated for weeks. A customs form has the wrong details. The business looks unprofessional, and the operator spends more time on admin than actually shipping.
Cargo44 replaces the spreadsheet, the WhatsApp group, and the paper trail with one system. When a customer drops off cargo, the agent logs it with a photo and packing list. The customer immediately gets a WhatsApp message with a tracking link. As the shipment moves — collected, loaded, departed, arrived, delivered — the customer gets automatic updates at every stage.
Customs documents, container manifests, invoices, and proof of delivery are all generated from the same data. No double-typing. No chasing. No “I forgot to update them.”
I’m part of the Caribbean diaspora. I’ve seen how stressful it is to send things home — not knowing if your barrel arrived, calling the forwarder with no answer, hoping nothing got lost.
On the other side, I’ve seen forwarders drowning in admin — good people running real businesses, held back by manual processes that don’t scale. They deserve better tools.
